UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg on Friday.
The two leaders discussed the bilateral relations between the Emirates and Russia, regional and international issues as well as new directions of cooperation.
According to Emirates Al-Youm and Arab News, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, President of the Emirates, said that “the Emirates and Russia have strong cooperation and are keen to develop relations”.
International and regional issues of mutual interest were discussed. The importance of a political solution to the Ukraine crisis was also discussed.
The UAE’s policy to build bridges of dialogue and cooperation for prosperity and peace around the world was also mentioned.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed tweeted, “Today I met President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg to discuss bilateral relations between the Emirates and Russia and the situation in Ukraine.”
“The UAE continues to support all efforts aimed at reaching a political solution to peace, international peace and stability through dialogue and diplomacy.”
In addition, Russian President Putin thanked Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed for his efforts to mediate the exchange of prisoners between Russia and Ukraine.
