Three Iraqi soldiers were killed and four wounded in an early-morning attack in northern Iraq on Sunday, which was blamed on the Daesh group.
According to the AFP news agency, an Iraqi military official said on condition of anonymity that the attackers used automatic weapons in the attack on the barracks in Wadi al-Naft, 25 kilometers west of Kirkuk city.

The army official further said that three soldiers, including two officers, were killed in the attack while four other soldiers were injured. No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
The attack took place in disputed territory between the federal government of Iraq, which owns the Kirkuk region in Iraq’s autonomous northern region of Kurdistan.
It should be noted that in 2014, Daesh militants seized a large part of Iraq and neighboring Syria and declared a ‘caliphate’.

The international coalition to fight Daesh militants said in April that Daesh attacks in both Iraq and Syria had decreased.
Meanwhile, in March, a senior Iraqi military official said that there are 400 to 500 ISIS operatives in the area who are involved in various activities.
