At least five workers were killed when part of the building collapsed after an explosion rocked a rocket and explosives factory in Turkey on Saturday.
According to the American news agency Associated Press, the Ministry of Defense of Turkey said that the explosion occurred in the compound of the state-owned Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation on the outskirts of the capital Ankara around 8:45 am.
Several ambulances and fire engines were seen heading towards the factory immediately after the accident.
Investigations have been started to find out the cause of the explosion.
Turkey’s NTV reported that the windows of shops and houses in the surrounding areas were broken due to the powerful explosion.
The TV report further stated that after the news of the explosion, the family members of the factory workers have gathered near the factory compound to inquire about their loved ones.
