While preparing for his Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday, Usher recently discussed his collaboration on Jungkook’s track. Amidst the promotional tour for his latest album, “Coming Home”, Usher explained his decision to remix “Standing Next to You”. In an interview with iHeartRadio, the 45-year-old singer highlighted that the song’s dance choreography brought back memories of his youth, being reminiscent of Michael Jackson’s style.

Standing Next To You Remix ft. Usher

The remix version of the song from his solo debut album Golden was first announced by the BTS star in November last year. During his interview on February 9, which coincided with the release date of “Coming Home”, Usher shared his excitement to move forward in K-pop following his collaboration with Jungkook on the track. “Standing next to you when Jungkook introduced it was obviously a great experience. I just wanted to take part in the magic,” the Yes hitmaker revealed. “Now I recognize that I have K-pop fans. So, I guess I need to do more in that area, yes?” He continued. “I love this song because it makes me feel like early Michael. Something about it made me think of those days, made me think of ‘Rock With You,'” Usher said.

When Jungkook initially announced the remix versions of his songs, “3D” and “Standing Next to You” in October 2023, BTS fans expressed their desire for an Usher feature. Just one month later, the Seven hitmaker’s label, BIGHIT Entertainment, unveiled “Standing Next to You” featuring Usher. The management company said in a statement that “the velvety, energetic vibe of the original version showcases the synergy between the two artists in full force.”

Fans want Usher to perform Standing Next to You at the Super Bowl

Ahead of the Super Bowl halftime show, fans of both BTS and Usher are expecting the Mae Boo singer to perform Jungkook’s “Standing Next to You” remix. One fan shared with the ex on Twitter, “I’m praying but it’s very, very, very hard! It is only 15 minutes long and he has many old famous songs to perform. Although it would be a dream to see a bit of JK in there. The exhibition will be huge!” Another fan said, “This is really a great chance to highlight JK and his music to reach a larger audience. Dear Jagex, please can we make use of this once in a lifetime opportunity?? God!! I wish I had superpowers.”
