In Pinkvilla’s interview, Rupali Ganguly spoke openly about her difficult times. Talking on the same topic, the actress revealed that she faced casting couch when she was trying her luck in films. The Anupama star exposed the dark side of Bollywood by revealing several unpleasant experiences which led her to give up her dream of becoming a film star. Elaborating on it, Rupali said:

“There was a time when I did not perform well in films, and that was a choice I made. This happened because casting couch was mainly present in the industry at that time. Some people may not have had to face it, but people like me had to face it, and we decided not to choose that option.

During the same conversation, Rupali also revealed that her family had rejected her when she started working in television. Mentioning that some people believed that she failed to work in television because she was from a film background. Rupali said that although she felt bad about her choices at the time, she is now proud of them. To quote him:

“So you are considered a failure because you come from a film family. At that time I felt small but today I feel very proud. I am feeling very proud. My Anupama has given me the stature and position that I had always dreamed of and expected from her. So Anupama is life changing for me. I am very grateful to God and my father. I think he did.”

Earlier, Rupali had opened up about experiencing ageism in an interview with ETimes. Speaking on the same topic, the actress revealed that, despite starring in a popular show like Anupama, she has faced age embarrassment. Rupali also mentioned how she often reads comments saying that she looks older than her on-screen husband Gaurav Khanna. Rupali told that she is happy with her wrinkles.

“Even after Anupama, I have gone through body shaming, age shaming. Hey your wrinkles are showing, hey that fat lady, yes I have wrinkles and I am proud of them. I am proud of who I am today. After three years of Anupama, I can say that I accept myself the way I am. To any woman going through this, I would say shame on your haters.

Earlier, in an interview with Times of India, the actress had opened up about the challenges she faced in resuming work after her delivery. Talking about the same, Rupali mentioned that playing a lead character in her 40s without an industry-standard body is a tough task. However, she is happy that it worked out for her.
