Shankar’s Game Changer initially faced problems in releasing in Tamil due to his previous film Indian 2. This is what happened.
Shankar’s Ram Charan and Kiara Advani starrer Game Changer recently faced problems for its release in Tamil Nadu. The producers of Indian 2, Lyca Productions, have written to the Tamil Film Producers Council to put the film on hold until Shankar completes Indian 3. Game Changer Tamil release approved
On Monday, Sun News reported that Lyca Productions has asked TFPC to put a hold on the release of Game Changer as Shankar is yet to give them the final cut of the Kamal Haasan-starrer Indian 3. Hindustan Times has also received confirmation that the release is under threat. .
However, the film’s distributors, RockFort Entertainment, said the problems had been resolved. They wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “All decks cleared for the grand release of #GameChanger in Tamil Nadu!!! We thank everyone in the film fraternity who have expressed their goodwill and support. Get ready for the biggest blockbuster of Pongal.”
The problem with Indian 3
The sequel to Shankar’s 1996 film Indian faced significant delays since its release in 2019 due to Covid-19 and an on-set accident that killed a crew member. Although filming was completed by 2024, it was announced that a third installment would also be released.
Some parts of the film, which also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth and Rakul Preet Singh, are yet to be shot. Shankar, combining Indian and Game Changer, is focusing on the latter, which is also in production from 2021. Lyca Productions or Shankar have not released an official statement regarding this.
