Nag Ashwin Kalki 2898 AD continues its dream run at the box office, records continue to fall with each passing day. Just a few days ago, the film made its debut in the Top 10 list of Highest Grossing Indian Films in North America, first beating Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire (United States and Canada), then rising to the 8th position Aamir Khan‘s 2014 film PK.
And now the film has climbed two more places to the sixth spot, leaving behind the likes of Aamir Khan Dangal And Ranveer Singh, Martyr Kapoor and Deepika Padukone Padmaavat exactly on the 6th day of its release.
The film has grossed $12 million in its 5-day theatrical run, with its first screenings on June 26, of which $9,946,617 came from the US and the rest came from Canada. By the evening of day 6, the film had added another $700,280 to its coffers, taking the film’s total gross to $12.7 million, a figure that is expected to rise once the night screenings conclude. And with this, the film has surpassed the combined grosses of Padmaavat, which earned $12.17 million, and Dangal, which earned $12.39 million, as per IMDB. The film is currently only behind Baahubali 2- The Results ($22 million), Pathaan ($17.45 million), Jawan ($15.23 million), RRR ($15.15 million), and Animal ($15 million).
However, the journey of Kalki starring Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan Prabhas and Deepika Padukone is not done yet. The film is expected to have a strong second week in the cycle. And with the July 4 Federal holiday, the numbers are expected to see a big increase.
The mythological futuristic film features many special appearances from Dulquer Salmaan to SS Rajamouli To Ram Gopal Varma Vijay Deverakonda And Mrunal Thakur.
