The last suspect, identified as Deepak Hawasingh Gogalia alias Jonny Walmiki (37) from Bhiwani, was arrested based on information shared by the Haryana Police. Allegedly a member Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldie Brar gangs.This arrest brings the number of people held in the case to five, an official said Sunday.
Earlier, Panvel police had arrested four people after receiving a tip-off about a conspiracy to harm the actor in September-October last year. Navi Mumbai police made an official statement and said that Gogalia was arrested for allegedly providing accommodation and arrangements from Bhiwani in Haryana. as well as providing logistical and vehicle support to other defendants. It was also stated that Gogalia communicated with other defendants via video calls.
He was nabbed after Vivek Pansare, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 11), Panvel, sought help from Bhiwani SP Varun Singhala and a Crime Branch team from Navi Mumbai went to the northern state, the statement said.
Gogalia was produced before a magistrate in Bhiwani on Sunday, who gave Navi Mumbai police a pass till June 5 and added that he would be brought to Panvel.
On Saturday, DCP Pansare told the media that Panvel police station senior inspector Nitin Thackeray had received information about a conspiracy to harm the actor in September-October last year. The investigation revealed that four gang members took over Khan’s farmhouse in Panvel, the area around his house in Mumbai’s Bandra and the places he visited for film shooting.
The gang had planned an elaborate attack on the actor’s car in Panvel, which included procuring weapons from a Pakistani arms supplier. An FIR has been registered against more than 17 people, including Lawrence Bishnoi, his brother Anmol Bishnoi, Sampat Nehra and Goldy Brar.
Dhananjay Tapesingh alias Ajay Kashyap While (28) was arrested in Panvel on April 28, Sandeep Bishnoi alias Gaurav Bhatia was also detained in Gujarat on the same day, the official said on Saturday. Waseem Chikna alias Vaspi Khan was selected from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Javed Khan alias Rizwan Khan was arrested from Bangalore. These people have been booked under sections 120-B (conspiracy) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Pansare told reporters.
While Lawrence Bishnoi is currently lodged in the Sabarmati central prison in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad, Anmol Bishnoi is believed to be in the US or Canada.
In the early morning hours of April 14, two men opened fire outside Khan’s Galaxy Apartments in Bandra. The attackers Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal were later arrested and their associates Sonu Bishnoi and Anuj Thapan were also nabbed. Mumbai police later made more arrests in the case.
