Television actor Nakuul Mehta is one of the most prolific actors of Tinseltown. She has earned an ardent fan base from shows like ‘Pyaar Ka Dard Hai’, ‘Ishqbaaaz’ and ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’.

Talking about his personal life, the actor is married to singer and voiceover artist Janaki Parekh. Both of them also have a child named Sufu. During his appearance on the show ‘Be A Man Yaar’, Nakuul opened up on some untouched chapters of his life. He revealed how he challenged gender roles when he and his wife started seeing each other.

Recalling their early dating days, Nakuul said that they never shared a traditional man-woman type of relationship. In the 4 years of their courtship, Janaki was paying more income tax than the actor was earning. Nakul mentioned that his wife comes from a very good family while he is from a service class background. When he got married, he did not have a job and his savings were less than Rs 1 lakh. But Janaki trusted him at that time.

In the same conversation, the actor recalled how gender roles never came in the way of his love relationships. He told that his beloved wife used to drop him home after the date. Nakul said, “Whoever had the money on the particular date would make the payment.” They never let me feel that I am a man, because I am not successful and there have been many parts of my life when I have not been successful.

Nakuul Mehta fell in love with Janaki Parekh when he saw her at the Shiamak Davar Dance Summer Camp. At the age of 18. The couple dated for a long time before tying the knot on January 28, 2012. The couple welcomed their first child in 2021.
