Keke Palmer became candid about working with Nickelodeon as a child.
In a recent interview with Independence The actress, released on March 2nd, opened about her hours working at Nickelodeon.
She loved performances, but admitted that the reality of being a child actor brought pressure to her own unique.
“Obviously, I had a great time playing. I’m happy that I had the joy of doing things that I really, really wanted to do,” Palmer shared.
“But I’m not deaf about my family financially. I was a child entertainer who made more money than my mom or dad. It was definitely crazy.”
Financial responsibility alone is a lot to do with children, but Palmer was not just about money, but also about navigating a world full of adult opinions.
“I had to deal with a lot of opinions, thoughts and adults. [responsibilities] “There’s no child that I really want to deal with,” she explained.
“But I’m happy with my life now, so I can’t really sit here and regret it or resent it because I’m on the other side.”
Now, as an established actress, singer and comedian, Palmer knows firsthand the struggles she grew up in the industry, with the point being to support the young actors she meets on set.
“It’s difficult to be a kid performer and get out there and do banana dances over and over again,” she joked.
“It can also be dehumanized, but it can be full of joy and I’m really working hard to be transparent about the next generation and it.”
Palmer is now celebrating the success of her latest comedy. One of themfeaturing singer SZA. She described the film as a project she always dreamed of making.
“It’s about these young women who overcome friendship, community and systematic challenges,” Palmer explained.
“It’s important that this film gets its budget back and people enjoy it and love it. And it’s important that we have evidence that people want to see a film like this now.”
