In a conversation with The Quint, Junaid said that while growing up, his mother Reena Dutta was very supportive of him and his sister. In the same interview, when Malhotra P Siddharth and Junaid Khan were asked how they felt when members of the Vaishnavite sect Pushtimarg moved the Gujarat High Court, claiming that the film contained “scandalous and defamatory language affecting the Pushtimargi sect as a whole” and was “likely to incite hatred and violent sentiments against the sect”, the director replied, “We made the film three years ago, but the wait for its release was endless. Also, the film is about one man’s ideology, not the entire community. We knew we had a good film and we never made it with the intention of hurting anyone.”
“Those who watched the film felt that there was nothing in the film that could harm anyone,” Junaid said.

Based on true events in pre-independence India, the film showcases the courage of social reformer Karsandas Mulji who challenges the status quo in a historic legal battle. Released on June 14, 2024.
