Special Reunion

According to ew.com, JLo reunited with her Maid in Manhattan co-star Ralph on Saturday as the Conclave actor presented the Unstoppable Actor with the Legend and Trailblazer Award.

In a moving speech, Ralph compared Jennifer to her character in director Wayne Wang’s 2002 romantic comedy.

“This maid actually had extraordinary wings that opened and she flew. But in this life, in this story, I think she was already flying decisively from an early age. Because I think she knows that she has something inside of her that she needs to honor,” he said.

In the film, Ralph played a politician who falls in love with Jennifer’s character. He praised J.Lo for her talent and soul, calling her “an amazing dancer, singer and wonderful actress.”

He added: “Being a legend and an innovator is a matter of spirit. If you have skills, their value will diminish unless there is a strong spirit behind them. It is the spirit that moves us and lifts us up. You are incredible. You have paved an amazing path. You keep fueling it. I think you’re some kind of goddess. Bring this to people, your extraordinary talent, because it is your truth.”

JLo reacts

Jennifer was moved by the emotional speech and was seen hugging her co-star on stage. She thanked Ralph for his kind words.

JLo said: “It was incredibly beautiful. Ralph, it’s been so long. I’m so glad to see you. Oh God, thank you so much for this. You know how much I admire you and your work, and it was such an honor to work with you all those years ago. And it’s amazing to be here today. Thank you very much.”

In fact, Jennifer was even asked about a potential Maid in Manhattan sequel or revival on the red carpet at the event. To which Jennifer said that she did not know about the continuation, but was discussing a potential Maid in Manhattan series. ABC announced back in 2008 that the film would be adapted into a TV series, but there have been no updates on that yet.

Released in 2002, Maid in Manhattan grossed $154 million worldwide against a budget of $55 million. The film received mixed reviews at the time, but became one of the most rewarding projects in Jennifer’s acting career.
