Varun Dhawan’s Christmas Special Baby John had a strong start with impressive double-digit earnings, raising hopes for a blockbuster. However, the film’s box office collections fell steadily over the next three days, indicating a disappointing trend.
According to Sanikilk, Baby John has earned Rs 19.65 crore (net) so far. The action film is struggling at the box office, showing low numbers for the third day in a row.
On its release day, December 25, the film earned Rs 11.25 crore. Sales fell by 57.78% and the profit was Rs 4.75 crore on the second day. The decline continued on the third day at Rs 3.65 crore, taking the total to Rs 19.65 crore (net). The Hindi film garnered 9.62% viewership on Friday.
‘Baby John’ was Varun’s biggest release in the last five years. His 2019 film Kalank, starring Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha, earned Rs 21.60 crore on its opening day. However, Varun’s recent theatrical releases, including Street Dancer 3D (2020), Jug Jugg Jeeyo (2022) and Bhediya (2022), failed to reach double digits on their opening days.
However, the film failed to maintain its momentum due to stiff competition from Allu Arjun. Pushpa 2: Rule.
Along with Varun, Baby John also stars Keerthy Suresh, Vamika Gabbi, Jackie Shroff and Rajpal Yadav, with Salman Khan playing a cameo role. Directed by Kalis and produced by Jawan’s Atlee, the action thriller is about a cop who goes into hiding to protect his daughter but must confront his past when her life is in danger. The film, a remake of Theri starring Vijay, received mixed response upon its release.
