In the city of Jalandhar in the Indian province of Punjab, a request has been filed by the Hindu extremist party Shiv Sena against the director and actors of the Punjabi film Carry On Jatta 3 for blasphemy.
According to Hindustan Times, the request was made by Shiv Sena India Youth Committee President Ashant Sharma and Shiv Sena Punjab (Taksali) Chairman Sunil Kumar Bunty at the Jalandhar Police Station.
Sunil Kumar Bunty while talking to ANI said that ‘We have submitted the application on behalf of Shiv Sena Hind. In a scene from Carry On Jatta 3, a Brahmin performing the rites of Hoon is insulted. Guppy Agarwal, Binu Dhillon and Gurpreet Ghagi have violated the faith of millions of Hindus by throwing water on Honkund.’
According to him, ‘in the Hindu religion, whenever a ritual has to be performed, hona is performed first.’
Sunil Kumar Bunty said, ‘So we have filed an application against all of them asking that a case be registered against them under Section 295C for hurting religious sentiments. And if they try to spoil the environment of Punjab, Section 153 should be imposed.
He said that these people have tried to increase the rating by targeting the Hindu religion. If people of any other faith had done this, they would have set the theater on fire. Hinduism is a tolerant religion and that is why we approached the government first. If she does not take action within 24 hours, we will protest outside the house of the film director and Gurpreet Ghagi.
It should be noted that Carry On Jatta 3 was released last month on June 29.
