Indian actor Naseeruddin Shah has admitted his mistake on his statement about Sindhi language.
Naseeruddin Shah on social networking site Facebook on Wednesday admitted that his statement about Sindhi language was wrong.
In his Facebook post, admitting the mistake, he wrote that ‘in recent days, two completely unnecessary controversies have arisen over my statement. One was related to my misrepresentation of the Sindhi language. I was wrong about that.’
The actor further wrote that ‘The second controversy was over my statement about the relationship between Marathi and Persian languages. My words were that many Marathi words are derived from Persian. My intention was not to insult Marathi language but what I meant was that different colors enhance cultures. Urdu is also a mixture of Hindi, Persian, Turkish and Arabic languages. English has borrowed words from European languages.’
Earlier, a statement of the actor went viral on social media in which he said that Sindhi language is no longer spoken in Pakistan.
While promoting the second season of his web series ‘Taj Divided by Blood’, he spoke about the different languages ​​spoken in Pakistan in an interview.
He said that they speak Balochi. They speak Dari. They speak Saraiki and speak Pashto. What is Sindhi is no longer spoken in Pakistan.’
