Shankar: Ashutosh Gowariker announced his new historical epic on Friday, September 22, 2023. The filmmaker shared posters of his in-progress biopic, based on the life of 8th-century Vedic scholar and teacher Adi Shankar (also known as Adi), on his Twitter account. Shankaracharya. The masterpiece will be titled Shankar because it will deal with the life of Adi Shankaracharya, whose Advaita Vedanta teachings were later carried forward by many learned saints and sages. Gowariker is known for making ambitious historical dramas such as: Lagaan, Jodhaa Akbar And Panipat. Since nationalist cinema is currently trending and there is a huge focus on Indian renaissance, Shankar is expected to resonate with audiences rooted in ancient Indian culture and tradition.

ASHUTOSH GOWARIKER ANNOUNCES HIS MOVIE TITLED SHANKARACHARYA
Panipat The director tweeted, “I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to illuminate the Life and Wisdom of Adi Shankaracharya 🙇 with a cinematic interpretation – SHANKAR – in collaboration with Acharya Shankar Sanskritik Ekta Nyas and @EkatmaDham @agppl #sunitagowariker #Shankar #AdiShankaracharya.” poster was unveiled during the installation of the 38-metre-tall Adi Shakaracharya ‘Statue of Unity’ on the banks of the Narmada River at Omkareshwar in Madhya Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan explores Adi Shakaracharya’s teachings, intellectual strength and efforts towards unifying Sanatan Dharma “And I am extremely happy that we have collaborated with filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker for the same purpose,” he said.
Gowariker’s latest project Panipat It was based on the third battle of Panipat. Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Sanjay Dutta, Mohnish Bahle and Padmini Kolhapure played important roles in the film.
