Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif meeting with US President Joe Biden

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met US President Joe Biden and his wife in honor of the world leaders attending the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is currently in New York to attend the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the first in-person session since 2019, when all sessions were made virtual due to the pandemic. He will address the United Nations General Assembly today at 12 noon (US local time), which can be telecast live on the official website of the United Nations at 9 pm in Pakistan.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister appreciated the flood prevention efforts of the United States and the continuous support and cooperation of the two countries for the covid-19 vaccine.

The Prime Minister will tell the story of Pakistan’s suffering in the United Nations General Assembly

Foreign Office Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar said in a statement that in his address to the United Nations General Assembly, the Prime Minister’s attention will be focused on the challenges faced by Pakistan in the wake of the recent climate change-induced catastrophic floods in the country.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will outline concrete proposals to collectively address the existential threat posed by climate change. He will also convey Pakistan’s position and perspective on regional and global issues of concern, including Jammu and Kashmir, one of the long-standing unresolved disputes on the United Nations agenda.

The spokesperson of the Foreign Office said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will participate in the high-level discussion at the United Nations General Assembly from September 19 to 23.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, other cabinet members and senior officials are also present along with the Prime Minister. He has been interacting with world leaders and engaging in other interactions with the media and various organizations.
