Twenty-nine people have died from asylum and heavy rains in two Afghan provinces, officials said Tuesday.

“21 people were killed and six others were injured,” said the western Israel Sayar, head of disaster management in the state, Mohammad Israel Sayar, who is said to be due to feathers in West Farah.

He said the victim was a member of two families who went to the picnic.

In southern Kandahar, the local disaster management department said in a statement that eight people, including women and children, were killed in several locations due to heavy rains.

“Today, four women who were busy washing their clothes were wiped out by the flood…and only one woman survived,” the statement said.

It added that the child was drowned in Kandahar and the roof fell on a family in which the family killed one woman and three children.

Among the poorest countries in the world after decades of war, Afghanistan is particularly exposed to the effects of climate change.

It is ranked as the sixth most vulnerable country to climate change.

Drought, flooding, land degradation and declining agricultural productivity are important threats, said a representative from the UN Development Agency in 2023.

Flash floods last May killed hundreds and overwhelmed Afghanistan’s farmland strip.
