Babar Azam has achieved a key milestone in his career in the Champions Trophy 2025 match against India on Sunday, becoming Pakistan’s third batter to win 1,000 runs in the ICC 1-day International (ODI) tournament I did.
The 30-year-old reached the landmark in 24 innings, making stylish drives from Harshitlana’s delivery to covering boundaries.
He joined Saeed Anwar and Javed Miandad, and was the only other Pakistani player to score over 1,000 runs at the ICC ODI event.
Azam’s achievement comes after a difficult-to-form run against Nepal in August 2023.
In the opening match of the tournament against New Zealand, he scored 64 runs of throws from 90 balls as Pakistan was short on 321 run chases.
Despite this, the former captain has shown resilience and has made a strong comeback in Test cricket after being recently dropped from the team in a home series against England.
Most runs in Pakistan at the ICC ODI tournament:
