Palestinian martyred in Israeli attack
Tabas: A Palestinian man died of his injuries on Friday after being shot by Israeli forces, the Palestinian Health Ministry said, in an early morning raid by Israeli forces against suspected militants in the occupied West Bank.
Salah Tawfiq Sufta, 58, was shot in the head in the West Bank city of Tubas, the Palestinian ministry said. Safta was on her way home from a mosque when she was targeted, her nephew said.
Videos circulating on social media showed Sufta the moment she was shot. Gunshots could be heard as Sufta, who was dressed in a traditional jalabiya, rushed for cover inside the bakery before collapsing to the ground at the entrance.
An eyewitness, Zakaria Safta, 27, said that Sheikh Salah was walking home when he called Abu Ubadah (the owner of the bakery) to come inside because of gunshots. “Seconds before he reached the bakery, they shot him in the head.”
He said that Israeli forces were stationed on top of a high-rise building nearby and that there were no clashes in the area.
The Israeli military said Palestinians threw Molotov cocktails and fired at its forces in Tubas, which were returned fire.
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shatia condemned Softa’s killing in a statement, saying Israel’s “terrorism” will continue as long as it is allowed to operate with impunity.
Overnight, the military arrested five suspects in Tubas and the nearby town of Tammoun who were allegedly involved in planning “terrorist attacks,” it said in a statement.
European states questioned the Israeli action
Nine European countries, including France and Germany, said on Friday they were “deeply concerned” by the Israeli government’s forced closure of several Palestinian NGOs working in the occupied West Bank.
The Israeli army on Thursday carried out late-night raids on seven organizations in the West Bank city of Ramallah, where the headquarters of the Palestinian Authority is located.
“We are deeply concerned about the raids that took place on the morning of August 18, as part of an alarming lack of space for civil society in the region,” the nine-nation foreign ministry said.
Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden said in a statement that the measures were unacceptable.

اسرائیلی حملے میں فلسطینی شہید
تباس: اسرائیلی فورسز کی گولی لگنے کے بعد جمعہ کے روز ایک فلسطینی شخص زخموں کی تاب نہ لاتے ہوئے دم توڑ گیا، فلسطینی وزارت صحت نے کہا کہ اسرائیلی فوج نے مقبوضہ مغربی کنارے میں مشتبہ عسکریت پسندوں کے خلاف صبح سویرے چھاپہ مارا تھا۔
فلسطینی وزارت نے بتایا کہ 58 سالہ صلاح توفیق صوفتا کو مغربی کنارے کے شہر طوباس میں سر میں گولی ماری گئی۔ ان کے بھتیجے نے بتایا کہ صفتا ایک مسجد سے گھر جا رہی تھی جب اسے نشانہ بنایا گیا۔
سوشل میڈیا پر گردش کرنے والی ویڈیوز میں صوفتا کو اس لمحے دکھایا گیا جب اسے گولی ماری گئی۔ گولیوں کی آوازیں سنائی دے رہی تھیں جب سوفتہ، جو روایتی جلبیہ کا لباس پہنے ہوئے تھی، داخلی دروازے پر زمین پر گرنے سے پہلے بیکری کے اندر ڈھانپنے کے لیے پہنچی۔
ایک عینی شاہد 27 سالہ زکریا صفتا نے بتایا کہ شیخ صلاح گھر کی طرف چل رہے تھے جب انہوں نے ابو عبادہ (بیکری کے مالک) کو اندر جانے کے لیے بلایا کیونکہ گولیوں کی آوازیں آ رہی تھیں۔ “وہ بیکری تک پہنچنے سے سیکنڈ پہلے، انہوں نے اس کے سر میں گولی مار دی۔”

فلسطینی وزیر اعظم محمد شتیہ نے صوفتا کے قتل کی مذمت کرتے ہوئے ایک بیان میں کہا ہے کہ اسرائیل کی “دہشت گردی” اس وقت تک جاری رہے گی جب تک اسے استثنیٰ کے ساتھ کام کرنے کی اجازت ہے۔
اس نے ایک بیان میں کہا کہ راتوں رات، فوج نے توباس اور قریبی قصبے تممون سے پانچ مشتبہ افراد کو گرفتار کیا جو مبینہ طور پر “دہشت گردانہ حملوں” کی منصوبہ بندی میں ملوث تھے۔
یورپی ریاستوں نے اسرائیلی کارروائی پر سوال اٹھایا
فرانس اور جرمنی سمیت نو یورپی ممالک نے جمعہ کے روز کہا کہ وہ اسرائیلی حکومت کی طرف سے مقبوضہ مغربی کنارے میں کام کرنے والی متعدد فلسطینی این جی اوز کی جبری بندش پر “سخت فکر مند” ہیں۔
اسرائیلی فوج نے جمعرات کو مغربی کنارے کے شہر رام اللہ میں سات تنظیموں پر رات گئے چھاپے مارے جہاں فلسطینی اتھارٹی کا صدر دفتر واقع ہے۔
نو ممالک کی وزارت خارجہ نے کہا کہ “ہمیں ان چھاپوں پر گہری تشویش ہے جو 18 اگست کی صبح، علاقے میں سول سوسائٹی کے لیے جگہ کی تشویشناک کمی کے حصے کے طور پر کیے گئے”۔
بیلجیئم، ڈنمارک، فرانس، جرمنی، آئرلینڈ، اٹلی، نیدرلینڈز، اسپین اور سویڈن نے ایک بیان میں کہا کہ یہ اقدامات قابل قبول نہیں ہیں۔
