The late Lance Reddick “was incredibly excited when we saw it before we started the press tour,” John Wick filmmaker Chad Stahelsky said.

During a recent IGN exclusive screening, the filmmaker revealed in a Q&A session, “When we first pitched the script to Lance a few years ago, obviously Charon dies and you It’s always a little unsettling to see the character end up on paper,” Stahelski recalled.

“But Lance almost immediately got — like, he read the whole script — he understood how important it was to the overall film that started the whole journey for Winston and how that friendship and all the dilemmas. It activates.”

Stelsky said Reddick was “such a great artist,” understanding the big picture and how important his role was in the film.

“One of the nicest things he said to me after watching was, ‘I’m so proud of what we did. Thank God we made those decisions and we didn’t back down,'” ” he added.

Keanu Reeves also remembered his co-star, calling Reddick “a beautiful man, a wonderful artist.”

He said that I am proud and grateful to have worked with him for almost ten years in four films.

Reddick died a week after the film’s release, aged 60.
